Giti Math and Science Award Program

On April 6, 2017, the first award program was held for the Chester County School District, where the following three schools were awarded first place: Great Falls High School, Great Fall Middle School and Chester Park Center of Literacy Through Technology.

From a rotating solar panel to a vertical garden, students have created some very innovative environmental solutions as part of the Giti Math and Science Award Program. The contest, which requires students to create an eco-friendly solution that can be used by the community, started at the beginning of the 2016 school year with math and science clubs being formed at 11 participating schools.

Growing the IT Talent Pipeline

IT-oLogy has helped more than 48,000 K-12 students and 3,170 educators explore IT through career fairs, competitions, and Cyber Saturdays.

In 2008, the University of South Carolina (USC) and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina partnered with IBM to form IT-oLogy, in part to encourage young people to learn the skills needed to manage enterprise systems, large-scale computers that process high volume transactions. Today, IT-oLogy is a non-profit collaboration of companies, academic institutions and other organizations dedicated to growing the IT talent pipeline, fostering economic development and advancing the IT profession.

USC’s Center for Applied Innovation and Advanced Analytics is a public/private partnership between the University of South Carolina, Fluor Corporation and IBM to increase education and economic opportunities for South Carolina and the region.

Customized Training in Technical and Soft Skills

For more than 30 years, Total Comfort Solutions has partnered with Midlands Technical College to train their HVAC technicians and for customized leadership and communication skills training modules for nearly 70 of their 100+ employees.

Center for Advanced Manufacturing

Okuma + York Technical College
Center for Advanced Manufacturing

Okuma forged a partnership with York Technical College’s Center for Advanced Manufacturing, where Okuma distributors and customers receive hands-on training in machining practices using the most advanced Okuma machines and tools. The center educates a wide range of students from companies such as Rolls-Royce, The Boeing Company, General Motors, John Deere, Honda, Siemens and Harley-Davidson.
