From describing the Earth’s continental land forms to applying physics to an egg drop, Chester County students demonstrate impressive STEAM skills in the Giti Math & Science Award annual competition.
Since the 2016-17 school year, Giti Tire has sponsored a STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics) competition each year in conjunction with the Chester County School District. A winning entry is selected from each of the elementary, middle school and high school divisions.
IT-oLogy has helped more than 100,000 K-12 students and more than 13,000 educators explore IT through career fairs, competitions and Cyber Saturdays.
In 2008 the University of South Carolina (USC) and BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina partnered with IBM to form IT-oLogy. The partnership's goal is to encourage young people to learn the skills needed to manage enterprise systems and large-scale computers that process high volume transactions. Today IT-oLogy is a non-profit collaboration of companies, academic institutions and other organizations dedicated to growing the IT talent pipeline, fostering economic development and advancing the IT profession.
The I-77 Region is well-known for excellent universities and colleges, with 9 major schools located within the region and another 15 located in the surrounding region.
USC’s Center for Applied Innovation and Advanced Analytics features software and equipment from industry partners to increase education and economic opportunities for South Carolina and the region. Current industry partners include IBM, Siemens, Nephron and Boeing.
For more than 30 years, Total Comfort Solutions has partnered with Midlands Technical College to train their HVAC technicians and for customized leadership and communication skills training modules for nearly 70 of their 100+ employees.
Okuma America has forged a partnership with York Technical College to host the Okuma Technology Institute. The College offers Okuma distributors and customers hands-on training in machining practices using Okuma machines and tools. The center educates a wide range of students from companies such as General Motors, John Deere, Harley Davidson and many more.
