We understand that successful companies require access to a well-trained workforce. It’s just that simple. For this reason we are dedicated to working with our existing industries, and those considering relocating or expanding into our region, to ensure they can find the right people. And if the right people aren’t in place, we work with companies—in partnership with area Technical Colleges and other allies—to create programs that will deliver the a workforce with the required skills.
The SC I-77 Alliance is blessed to have an exceptional working relationship with both York Technical College and Midlands Technical College. Together these highly-acclaimed institutions can meet virtually any industry training need. A great example is the 30,000 square foot Center for Advanced Manufacturing at York Technical College. Through partnerships with industry, such as the on-site Okuma Training Institute, the College's Corporate and Continuing Education Division delivers world class training using the latest generation of computer numerically controlled machine tools, simulators, and advanced CAM software.
The South Carolina Technical College System is a key reason for the state’s success in industry recruitment and expansion. Within the system, the Division of Economic Development manages two incredibly powerful programs. First, readySC™ works closely with companies to provide the recruiting and training assistance they need to get up and running. Second, Apprenticeship Carolina™ helps their workforce continue to grow by guiding companies through the registered apprenticeship process from initial information to full recognition in the National Registered Apprenticeship System.
